Workbook
So as i stated before in my last blog, i was having trouble starting my workbook. Well, i started it and am very happy with how im doing. I figured out i can do part of it each day and finish it on time. I dont feel it is going to be as hard as i thought it was going to be. Having a background in softball gives me a great advantage on how to think of the drills and practice schedules. Im slowly starting to get some of my homework done each day and i am getting even more excited that the semester is almost over and summer is almost here.

Workbook and E-folio
The sememster is coming to an end very quickly, and all my homework is starting to build up. I have this huge workbook due in about 3 weeks that is going to take some time. It is in my coaching class and it is on softball, and we have to create 2 calendars for 2 months, and a practice/game schedule for 2 weeks. I have started it, but it takes a lot of thinking and planning. Another thing that is stressing me out is this E-folio project we have to do for tech. I haven't started it yet, and i need to ASAP. I just havent had the motivation to start it at all. I know i need to, or ill wait till the last minute which i dont want to do at all. I hope you all have started yours and are not waiting till the last minute. I hate how all this homework is just building up on top of all my others. Its really stressful!

Spring Time
Slippery Rock is finally feeling the warm weather that everyone has been longing for for some time now. The weather has been nice for the past few days now. You are seeing a lot more people out during the night time walking around since the weather is a lot nicer. I love seeing people playing frisbee, football, or just jogging outside. It gives me a sense of spring and im so happy it is finally here. That also means that the semester is nearing the end and summer is just around the corner. Good luck the rest of the semester everyone!

Praxis
Last month, i took the praxis and passed all of them except the reading, i got a 170. So over break i took it a again and got a 171. GRR. It says on the paper they send home that the minimum required score is a 171, is that still passing or would i have to take it again? I really hope i don't because it is so hard to concentrate reading all the passages given. Can someone please let me know!?

Field Experience
Yesterday, my assessment strategies class went to North Allegheny Intermediate School for a field experience. We observed 4 different classes. One was fitness testing which included the pacer, pull ups, push ups, and many more. Another was a class that was teaching self defense, another was spinning, where the students s at on an aerobic bike to a screen with a trail on it, and lastly a weight training class. North Allegheny's physical education classes are organized so that the students can take these lessons they learn and use them when they become adults. I really enjoyed the experience and it gave me some insights one what i could do when I become a teacher. All the teachers gave positive feedback and were very enthusiastic. Also, they love their jobs and want the students to get everything out of the class as they can. It was a great experience for me and I am looking forward to student teaching.

Observation for Assessment Strategies
Today, February 24, 2009 for my assessment strategies class I was to observe another physical education class. I decided to observe Dr. Larouere's Movement Education class. It was located at the ARC in gym B. For the class, i was to create my own affective rubric and assess five students in his class. The class was not very cooperative and did not do what the teacher told them to do. There was a lot of fooling around and not listening. Next, for Assessment Strategies, we are going on a field experience to North Allegheny on Thursday. I will blog about that when i get back! Thanks

Women's Basketball Think Pink Game
Last night, February 18, 2009 the women's basketball team honored Kay Yow. They wore shirts representing breast cancer awareness. The Rock pulled out the victory with a score of 101-72 against Lock Haven. They were led by standout senior guard, Amanda Nero who scored a game high 38 points. Along with her 38 points, she tied the school record with 9 three pointers. With her superior shooting, The Rock showed outstanding defense and passing skills. They were also on the lower end of turnovers, that proved costly to struggling Lock Haven. This game helped them one step further for a bid into the playoffs. I wish the women's team good luck in their pursuit to get into the playoffs.
